Here’s the short answer. Appliance prices in India go up from October 1, 2026. ACs will cost 5 to 8% more, and refrigerators, washing machines and LED TVs will rise by around 3 to 4%. If you’ve been planning a purchase, buying before the price hike is the easiest way to save money this season.
This is the third appliance price hike of 2026, and it arrives right in the middle of festive shopping. We’ve been selling home appliances across North Kerala since 1996 and have seen plenty of price revisions over the years. This one is bigger than most, so here’s what’s changing, why it’s happening, and what we’d tell you if you walked into our showroom today.
What is the appliance price hike starting October 1?
It’s a price revision by almost every major appliance brand in India, all happening at the same time. Manufacturers update their price lists when their own costs go up, and this time the increase is large enough that most companies are moving together. According to a Business Today report, new prices on ACs, LED TVs and washing machines take effect from October 1. A few brands have already raised prices, and some will follow in November.
In simple terms, the AC or fridge you’re looking at today will have a higher price tag once the new list prices kick in.
How much will AC, TV, fridge and washing machine prices go up?
ACs take the biggest jump at 5 to 8%. Fridges, washing machines and TVs go up by 3 to 4%. Percentages can feel vague, so here’s what the appliance price hike looks like in rupees.
| Appliance | Expected price hike | Example price today | Extra you may pay after the hike |
| Air conditioner | 5 to 8% | ₹40,000 | ₹2,000 to ₹3,200 |
| LED TV | 3 to 4% | ₹35,000 | ₹1,050 to ₹1,400 |
| Refrigerator | 3 to 4% | ₹30,000 | ₹900 to ₹1,200 |
| Washing machine | 3 to 4% | ₹25,000 | ₹750 to ₹1,000 |
A family buying an AC and a fridge together could end up paying over ₹4,000 more after the hike. For the exact same products.
Why are appliance prices increasing in 2026?
Mainly because the metals that go into appliances have become a lot more expensive. An AC uses copper for its tubes and coils, and copper prices have gone up by 25 to 35%, according to Daikin India’s chairman. Steel and aluminium are used in fridge bodies, washing machine drums and TV frames, and those prices have risen too. Plastic parts come from crude oil, which adds another layer of cost.
The dollar is the other big factor. Many parts inside Indian-made appliances are still imported, so when the dollar gets stronger, brands pay more for the same components. Shipping costs have also gone up, and the situation in West Asia has made freight and currency rates less predictable.
Brands absorbed some of these costs earlier in the year. With input costs now 8 to 10% higher than at their last revision, they’re passing part of it on to customers.
Which brands have announced an AC price hike?
Nearly every brand you’d find on a showroom floor is part of this round. Daikin went first, raising AC prices by 8 to 10% from September 16. Haier has announced a 5% increase on room ACs from October 1, plus 2 to 3% on its LED TVs and washing machines. Godrej Appliances expects a 5 to 7% hike across categories, with timing that may stretch into November. Blue Star and Super Plastronics (SPPL) have also confirmed increases, and LG and Voltas have reportedly told their partners to expect 5 to 7%.
With this many brands moving together, switching brands won’t help you avoid the appliance price hike. The whole market is going up.
Should you buy now or wait until after the price hike?
Buy now if you already know you need the appliance. Waiting won’t bring the price down, and prices rarely go back to old levels once a new list comes in. Here’s how that plays out for each category.
Buying an AC before the price hike
ACs have the biggest increase, so they give you the biggest savings if you buy early. There’s also the summer factor. Kerala starts heating up from February, and by March everyone is looking for an AC at the same time. Buy now and you skip both the AC price hike and the summer queue for installation. If your area gets frequent voltage fluctuations, pick up a stabilizer along with it to protect the compressor.
Buying a fridge or washing machine now
If your fridge isn’t cooling like it used to, or the washing machine makes that noise every spin cycle, this is the time to replace it. The increase here is smaller, but it’s still money you don’t need to spend. And an old appliance won’t get cheaper to run while you wait.
Buying a TV before the hike
TV prices are going up by 3 to 4%. That makes a real difference on a bigger screen. With festive sales on, you can combine current prices with seasonal deals from our offers page.

Frequently asked questions about the appliance price hike
When does the appliance price hike start?
For most brands, the new prices apply from October 1, 2026. Daikin already raised AC prices by 8 to 10% from September 16, and a few brands like Godrej may bring in their changes during October or November.
How much will AC prices increase in October 2026?
Most brands are raising AC prices by 5 to 8%, and Daikin’s increase is 8 to 10%. On a ₹40,000 AC, that means roughly ₹2,000 to ₹3,200 extra.
Will TV, fridge and washing machine prices also go up?
Yes. Refrigerators, washing machines and LED TVs are expected to rise by around 3 to 4%. Haier has announced 2 to 3% on its LED TVs and washing machines.
Why are appliance prices increasing in 2026?
Copper, steel, aluminium and crude oil based materials have all become more expensive, and copper alone is up 25 to 35%. A stronger dollar, higher freight charges and tensions in West Asia have added to manufacturers’ costs.
Is it better to buy an AC now or wait until summer?
Buying now is the better choice. You pay the current price before the AC price hike, and you avoid the summer rush when demand and installation waiting times peak.
Will appliance prices come down after the festive season?
It’s unlikely in the near future. This is already the third price hike of 2026, raw material costs are still high, and brands rarely cut list prices after a revision.
